LumenSunlight doesn’t reach the city of Lumen. It is forever veiled in darkness. It is a black spot on the horizon, visible from miles away. Despite its dark reputation, Lumen is a large, prosperous city, a major landmark on the trade route. Laid out in a haphazard pattern, the city is rife with sprawling markets and bazaars. The calls of eager vendors and merchants fill the air, a cheery backdrop to the bright splash of colour which assails the eye from every angle.

Such life and brightness has not been attained without a struggle. Long ago, all lights were put out as the city went to sleep. Darkness crept forward in Lumen

FormidoThe streets of Formido are straight and narrow, crisscrossing each other in parallel lines to form a grid-like city. Despite its simple layout, many a corner is cloaked in darkness.
The House of Enlil rules Formido with an iron fist and a cruel will. If they suspect someone is conspiring against them – the stocks. If someone acts out against them – the gallows. The men of Enlil rarely venture from their keep, surrounded by stone walls twenty feet high. The city is patrolled day and night by guards notoriously loyal to the House of Enlil. CaligaOnly one way exists to enter the city of Caliga. Situated atop a cliff, one must traverse the surrounding turbulent waters to gain entry within its depths; however, it is not an easy task. The waters are perilous, and not one ship has made it to Caliga. Wind sweeps across the water’s surface, a siren’s call, daring all to come near. Those who draw courage to face the challenge fall prey to the surging waves and deadly rocks.

Mists shroud the city from view, allowing only a glimmer of shining crystal to be seen under the sun’s radiance. But it is enough to lure many a traveler across the treacherous sea, to attempt Caliga

Here's all my fairytale haikus in the one place

I was in a haiku mood, and I'm always thinking of fairytales...and this was the result.

Once upon a time –
Happily ever after.
Story of my life.

Storybook romance –
Enduring love, pure and true.
An eternal hope.

The clock strikes midnight;
A glass slipper left behind,
A girl left yearning.

Beyond the thorn wall
She lies, so pale, so still, to
Await true love’s kiss.

Felled by an apple,
She waits, dreaming of the day
When her prince will come.

A naïve beauty
And a tempestuous beast –
Can true love be found?

The mermaid princess
Sings sweet melodies filled with
Longing for true love.
